Procedure for Certification with the Yoga Alliance

Contact Hours

  • Complete contact hours by attending all modules with the lead trainer. It is recommended you do not miss any modules at all. If you must miss one, please check in with the lead trainer and make sure you are able to catch up on the hours. You will need to make up any missed modules. You must also pass a final exam to complete contact hours.

Non Contact Hours

  • Complete non-contact hours by
    1.  handing in assigned writings
    2. 15 page original paper about Yoga, Ayurveda, and Tantra
    3. A paper about the tattvas (can be any length over two pages)
    4.  Ethics
    5. Liability release form
    6. 10 min recorded meditation on one of the five elements (or all the elements in one meditation)
    7. One full-length video of a yoga flow you lead ( must include queuing the five elements)
    8. Observing classes, signed by supervisor or director of yoga studio (25 hours)
    9. practicing classes, signed by supervisor or director of yoga studio (25 hours)
    10. teaching classes, signed by supervisor or director of yoga studio (30 hours)
    11. and karma yoga, signed by supervisor or director of yoga studio (20 hours)
  • Certificate

  • Receive a certificate from your lead instructor (lead instructor reserves the right to decline your certification if requirements are not completed)
  • Purchase liability insurance around $200/ year
  • Apply to the Yoga Alliance /requires a fee usually around $50
